About Tourism and Archeology
In early Seventies Tourism department was working as an attached Unit of AJ&K Forest Department with a Tourism Inspector only. In 1992, a Directorate General of Tourism, Wildlife, Archaeology and Fisheries (TWAF) was established. During 1996, Tourism & Archaeology department was attached with Secretariat of Information & Civil Defense.
Vision
Tourism & Archaeology department will be the premier organization and a leader in Economic development of AJ&K.
Mission
To use the State’s Natural, Cultural, Religious & Archaeological heritage to foster the development of Tourism as a valuable sector of AJ&K economy in a sustainable manner that:
Includes the community
Balances the interests of Tourism sector with those of other Industries, satisfies the needs of visitors.
Tourism encourages, facilitates private sector to invest.
